The State Space Agency of Ukraine joined the Lunar Settlement Association. What does it mean?

The State Space Agency of Ukraine signed a Memorandum with the Moon Village Association – an international organization that promotes lunar exploration programs.

The State Space Agency of Ukraine announced the signing of a Memorandum with the Moon Village Association (MVA).

The main goal of MVA is to bring together private forces, governments and academies for the exploration of the moon.

This international non-governmental organization was founded in 2017 and since then it has made up about “220 individual and 22 institutional members from 46 countries”.

Both space and non-space states can join MVA, since the organization studies not only scientific and technical, but also cultural aspects of monthly research.

“The next big step of humanity should be to ensure stable human life on the Moon. Ukraine must make a significant contribution to achieving this goal”, – wrote the head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine Volodymyr Usov on his Facebook page.

According to him, if mankind learns to maintain vital activity at the level of monthly orbital stations, we will be able to do this on Mars, and on the satellites of Jupiter, and “anywhere”.

At the MVA symposium-seminar, which took place in December 2019 in Tokyo, representatives of the Yuzhnoye design bureau showed the conceptual plan of the monthly industrial research base.

The plan included the appearance of the future base, a transport system for the delivery of crew and cargo, and a means of transportation for the lunar surface.

In addition to Ukraine, representatives of Japan, the USA, India and China showed similar projects.

Recall that in May 2020, the State Space Agency launched the Yangel Big Bang online program, which is aimed at supporting startups related to space technology.

The program should prepare space startups to participate in the Yangel Accelerator, which is scheduled to launch in the fall.

Participation in Yangel Big Bang is free of charge, and in order to get to the selection you need to present your product and go through an interview with coordinators. After that, for about four weeks, the participants will work with mentors, representatives of the State Space Agency and Ukrainian business.

The State Space Agency explained that we are talking about startups that can be used not only in space projects, but also in agricultural, defense, educational, telecommunications and other industries.
