COVID-19: Seeking validators of a healthcare software app for storing the COVID-19 test results in the mobile phone

Details
COVID-19: Seeking validators of a healthcare software app for storing the COVID-19 test results in the mobile phone
TRES20200709001
A Spanish (Basque) SME with experience in ICT for the medical sector has developed a software application that allows to save the results of the COVID-19 tests in the mobile phone as well as serving as an official document for patients. The company is looking for hospitals and healthcare facilities to validate the app under a technical cooperation or license agreement.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a pandemic with a rapidly increasing incidence of infections and deaths. To help control the pandemic it is essential to have a centralized system of information on the results of public and private laboratory centres tests in real-time. Likewise, it is a key issue to ensure that the information provided by an individual to the authorities responsible for controlling mobility can be presented reliably and results are / can be guaranteed, for example at airports, at train stations, or at hospitals.

The Spanish SME, made up of doctors and professionals from the world of communication technologies and business management, was founded in 2018 with the aim to provide solutions in the field of digitalization of medical processes. More specifically, the company’s expertise lies in the development of tools for the integral management of the medical informed consent medical procedure in digital format, which improves communication physician-patient through audiovisual technology and Blockchain security, towards a paperless health management.

The company has developed a new system of COVID-19 passports that, based on the use of artificial intelligence techniques, allows to fine-tune the quality of the tests results and offers advantages especially in relation to mobility in transport. The system consists in a smartphone and web application that allows to store the COVID-19 test results in the mobile phone. It is an intuitive and easy-to-understand eHealth solution that guides the patient through the entire informed consent process: from explaining the procedure to the different medical consents they need to digitally sign through visual technology and animated videos.

The Covid-19 pandemic offers a context of opportunity to introduce the patients' consent in the management of their data during the triage, which is the process of determining the priority of patients' treatments by the severity of their condition or their likelihood of recovery with and without treatment. This has not been achieved yet at clinical level and therefore represents a great chance to progress in patient assistance services.
The proposed solution allows the health system and doctors to manage the different levels of patient care (follow-up from home, primary care and emergencies or hospitalization) in a much faster and more efficiently way.

Expected partners are hospitals or healthcare facilities where COVID-19 tests are performed. The company is looking for a technical cooperation or license agreement.

The company is looking for either hospitals, clinics or healthcare facilities where Covid-19 tests are run. Making use of the system proposed, results would be rapidly transferred to the company so that the technology can start functioning and be validated. The more tests are run, the better.

Measurement of very small flow rates for applications as calibration of gas flow meters, looking for licensees
TODE20201016005
A German research institute has developed a measurement device for the calibration of smallest flow rates (<0.1 ml/min). A piston system for volumetric flow determination is set up, where a liquid with low vapor pressure can be introduced above the seal of the vertically moving piston. This new method for the calibration of gas flow meters reduces the uncertainty of the calibration. The research institute is searching for licensees.
A German research institute active in metrology has developed a measurement system for the determination of very small flow rates for the calibration of gas flow meters. For the calibration of smallest flow rates (<0.1 ml/min), a piston system for volumetric flow determination is set up, where a liquid with low vapor pressure can be introduced above the seal of the vertically moving piston.
The uncertainties usually arising from thermal input during this measuring process are minimized. An optical channel (yellow in the picture) enables the detection of leaks in the system by detecting the liquid level in two inspection windows. This new method for the calibration of gas flow meters reduces the uncertainty of the calibration.
The method uses a vertically mounted piston system to measure an unknown or generate a given flow. A liquid is fed into the annular gap between piston and housing via an inlet. This enables the automatic monitoring of the liquid for bubbles and an automatic output of a warning message via optical inspection in case of bubble detection. The thermal influences are minimized by the generation of smallest volume flows and leaks are detected by an optical measuring device. Thus, a lower measurement uncertainty is possible, especially when generating or measuring small flow rates, for example less than 1 ml per minute.
The economic aspect of the new sealing concept is the reduction of thermal influences on the calibration results. In addition, it is conceivable to use it for measuring the parasitic gas volumes that can penetrate piston seals. The described method can be used in calibration laboratories, high-precision measurements in laboratory technology as well as by manufacturers of flow measurement devices.
The research institute is searching for international licensees to increase third- party funding.
The system leads to the following advantages.
-	Measurement of smallest flows are enabled
-	Reduction of thermal inputs
-	Detection of leaks is enabled

Covid-19: A UK leading sauna distributor is looking for an R&D partner with technical knowledge to research the health benefits of infrared saunas

Details
Covid-19: A UK leading sauna distributor is looking for an R&D partner with technical knowledge to research the health benefits of infrared saunas
TRUK20201019001
A UK company based in the North of England is a leading supplier and distributor of infrared saunas for both domestic and commercial use is looking to carry out research and development through a research cooperation agreement and or a technical cooperation agreement into the sauna's capability of boosting the immune system to hopefully reduce the infection rate and help fight COVID-19 and other such respiratory infections as well an cancer and arthritis.
It is a well established belief that hot and cold therapy boosts the immune system. The most common cause of fever in the UK is a viral infection. It has been well documented throughout history, Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and the Romans used fever therapy for its healing effects.
The most effective defense against a virus, such as the novel coronavirus, is to eliminate the risk of infection and develop a vaccine, but the former is difficult and harmful to the economy and the latter does not exist yet for COVID-19. It is therefore prudent to explore further health benefits of saunas and what role they play in boosting the immune system. Saunas create an artificial fever in the body, which kills most viruses before they take hold. Saunas are drug free, a relaxing routine and a preventative measure and this UK companies wide range of saunas provide health benefits, including respiratory conditions, arthritis and cancer relief, as well as detoxification and immune system improvements.
The company has been working on a new range of infrared saunas, producing a prototype and getting the range ready for mass production. This will be available in 3 sizes, an improved design, floating bench and a new full spectrum glass infrared heater, which emit healthy, near, mid and far infrared. The heaters can be supplied in 300w, 400w and 500w, thus allowing to increase the intensity of the infrared and air temperature in the sauna to 66.67%, this could potentially be more effective at fighting viruses.

The advantages of infrared technology include the improvement in respiratory conditions; Increase and improvement to the function of immune cells and improve pain relief
Saunas are currently duty free as they are classified by SGS in Germany as Therapeutic Respiratory Devices
They also have the necessary certifcations CE(EMC,LVD); ISO9001-2000; ETL;ETS;C-TICK;ROHS,GS and SAA

They are looking for a research and development with technical experience partner to work alongside them to implement a feasibility study and explore the real health benefits of infrared saunas in the prevention of or aid to reducing the risk of virus's, It is envisaged that the partnership will take the form of a research cooperation agreement with technical expertise or a technical cooperation agreement.
This co-operation will also aid possible future UK funding options.

A Portuguese company is looking for partners for a joint venture agreement or financial agreement for take to the commercialization stage a innovative wave energy concept unit that converts the sea waves energy in electricity

Details
A Portuguese company is looking for partners for a joint venture agreement or financial agreement for take to the commercialization stage a innovative wave energy concept unit that converts the sea waves energy in electricity.
TOPT20201021001
A Portuguese SME has developed a specific and innovative unit that uses sea waves energy for electricity. It can be installed in ports or jetties and be designed for the protection of coastal erosion or hydrogen production. To develop further its converter concept the SME is seeking for partners for the demonstration and improvement of the unit in a simulation environment, or interested in financial or joint venture agreement with energy sector companies to implement the first pilots in the sea.
This is a Portuguese SME with more than 15 years’ experience in civil engineering, health, safety and environment and implementation of energy efficiency solutions.
This equipment is a unit that uses the energy of sea waves and converts it in electricity.
The unit can operate on jetties, marinas and other maritime infrastructures, taking advantage of wave energy due to the difference in height of the free surfaces of two tanks implanted in a jetty, one located on the sea side and the other on the land side using a turbine to produce electricity. The use and transformation of energy will be similar to that of tidal mills and mini hydro plants.
It works with a new concept of harnessing wave energy profiting from the kinetic energy and wave potential and using the maximum wave height. Its operation is independent of the tides.
The unit uses a mini-hydro turbine with a continuous turbine supply, independent of the wave cycle and size.
It can use existing maritime infrastructures and being a modular system, it can use one or more monoblock turbines using little space on the dock. Multiple units can work in parallel.
The electromechanical equipment is installed in a protected area and therefore there is no equipment or moving parts in direct contact with the waves.
It involves low installation costs as well as those concerning ancillary works and the ones related to connection to the electricity grid. It is possible the local use of the energy produced and the kW produced is considered green kW. In periods of higher energy production, it can be used for other purposes, namely hydrogen production and battery charging.
The system minimizes the impact on the receiving environment, with reduced visual impact and does not contribute to any aquatic environment impact. Being a clean energy production unit it has little relevant sound impact and a positive impact on populations.
These units fight coastal erosion, allow the exploitation of aquacultures in the open sea / production of micro algae and in parallel can be used for the production of hydrogen.
The company has all pre-testing works for the verification of the concept and resistance in extreme conditions, tested in wave channel, and is seeking to move this to a next level with self-financing partners, who could contribute to demonstration of the technology with a simulation study over a research or technical cooperation agreement. Ideal partners should have expertise in marine technology and inshore structures. The PT company also looks for investors over financial agreement and is open to form joint ventures with energy sector companies for pilot unit in the marine environment in real conditions.

Multi-functional medical suction device

Details
Multi-functional medical suction device
TOHU20201020001
A Hungarian technology transfer agency offers its technology, a multi-functional medical suction device. The device is used to remove infectious material from wounds or any fluid from the patient's airway or respiratory system. The device can be used during surgery or at the patient's bed. It also provides continuous breathing and oxygenation during use. The Hungarian agency is mainly looking for license partners and investors.
A Hungarian technology broker company is offering a breakthrough technology in medical science.

Tracheostomy involves opening the area beneath the larynx, inserting into the tiny opening a properly shaped device, usually bent at right angles, and securing it to the neck in some form (often with a lumbar spine). Because the air bypasses the constriction, it provides continuous breathing and oxygenation.
The efficiency of the treatment can only be achieved by satisfying all medical needs. It is essential for clinicians to use reliable, accurate, and safe medical aspirator. Accurate medical aspirators provide controllable suction levels and improve safety requirements in hospital wards, surgical sites, pathology laboratories, dental wards, mortality, and postmortem rooms. The device is used to remove infectious material from wounds or any fluid from the patient's airway or respiratory system. The device can be used during surgery in the operating room or near patients' beds. The impact of using a mobile device (battery-operated device) on patients and their carers is invaluable. Allows safe transportation for examinations, treatments. A portable machine with the right parameters can mobilize the patient and his / her nurse and family. It provides an opportunity to break free between the four walls, to experience familiar and new places and experiences, and to maintain a healthy mental state.
The technology performs its multi-purpose tasks safely in a wider range of applications, according to practical aspects and all the needs of the user.
The easy mobility and reliability of the device and its high operating capacity in the workflow of patient care and treatment and during patient transport are essential.

All models in the model range are designed and built to perform their multi-purpose functions safely in terms of practicality and user requirements, in their most basic features, while distinguishing them from the products currently known on the market. In many ways, the models are seen as a new trend in the suction device market.

The owner of the technology intends to introduce the novel design, high technical parameters, which are not yet exploited in the market, in line with the application of several functions in a wider field of application. The technology is conquering an area of the market that is so untapped and very large.
This technology can be used and sold much more widely with the uniform applicability of several application functions, as a result of the development of its formal and technical parameters: treatment and care of acute and chronic patients, health situations, injury care, treatment of people traveling with treatment, mothers, nose and oral sucking, breast milking to feed children.

Main application areas:
- health care institutions,
- public, foundation, or private rehabilitation institutions.
- nursing and care institutions,
- social facilities,
- fire brigade, disaster protection, national defense.
- home - care: when treating patients, traveling, staying out of the house.

Other areas:
- hospitality, tourism,
- entertainment facilities,
- camps, campsites, beaches,
- sports facilities,
- railway stations, means of transport,

The soaring growth of the market can be attributed to the increase in health situations from home healthcare and the growing demand for compact, portable devices. Furthermore, there is an urgent need to solve the increasing incidence of chronic diseases.
The user-friendly, compact, multi-functional design offers benefits such as a point of care and eliminates the need for trained professionals to operate these devices. These benefits increase the demand for portable devices.
By increasing the capacity of the suction devices, surgical devices can also be constructed with more advantageous properties.
The agency is looking for partners who are willing to invest in the product. With a fairly strong partner, exclusive licensing can be possible.
The lifestyle impact of using a mobile machine (battery-powered device) on patients and their caregivers is invaluable. A portable machine with the right parameters can mobilize the patient and his caregiver and family. It provides an opportunity to escape the surrounding four walls, to experience familiar and new places and experiences, and to maintain a healthy mental state.

Lightweight and small size:
- Provides a quick response during treatments.
- Fits in an average bag, stroller, even carried on the shoulder and does not interfere with the free movement in spending time at home or away from home.

High operating capacity:
- When switched on, the immediate high compression safely supplies the emergency removal of any dense or firmer medium from the tracheal, nasal, and oral openings.
- In addition to the manually controlled pulsations (pump effect) when taking breast milk, the mechanical suction force by claiming all breast milk can be sucked out in any position, preventing inflammation in the breast.

The cost of manufacturing technology with premium parts is very low compared to similar devices on the market. The purchase price of competing products can be 50-60 times the production cost of this device (500-600% difference).

Four of the world's top ten deaths are from respiratory diseases, which account for 17% of all deaths. In summary, with a shrinking population, with a drastic increase in the proportion of people over sixty-five, there are hundreds of thousands of patients in need of long-term medication, care, and nursing.

Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD) are not curable, however, various forms of treatment that help dilate the main airways, allow free passage, and improve shortness of breath can help treat symptoms and improve the quality of life for those suffering from the disease. Often, the only solution is to implant a tracheostomy.
With the advent of the COVID 19 virus, the demand for global suction equipment has multiplied.
Available for demonstration
An important criterion in selecting component manufacturers was that they meet the standards of most manufacturers (ISO9001, EU RoHS, REACH, FDA).
After requesting quantity order quotes and samples, the company selected the most suitable quality parts.

The model meets the conditions for TÜV certification.
In the practical design and execution of the prototype, important operational aspects covering all the details were carried out according to the instructions.

A Polish university spin-off active in the field of functional masterbatches for polymers and additives for lubricants and cutting fluids is looking for R&D partners
TOPL20201016001
A Polish university spin-off that implements an innovative group of products constituting functional masterbatches for polymers and additives for lubricants and cutting fluids is looking for R&D partners. The innovation consists in using the properties of low-dimensional carbons in the product design process - graphene and carbon nanotubes.
The products of Polish company are intended for manufacturers of plastics, coatings, lubricants and cutting fluids. They improve their mechanical, electrical and tribological properties. The company's team consists of physicists and chemists, it cooperates with universities in the region, Poland and abroad, as well as with research institutes on the development of materials with given functionalities.

The recipes are part of the company's know-how. As progress is made, some material modifications will be reserved or licensed. At present, works on the technology of manufacturing functional masterbatches and additives to lubricants (advanced materials and tools) are being finalized. The company has additionally taken part in several projects together with other companies applying for grants for:

- Agriculture in the treatment of diseases on carriers of biodegradable plastics,

- Medical and Pharmaceutical industry,

- Engineering industry in the design of cutting fluids for machining with minimal lubrication and cooling with MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication).

The company's products stand out, in addition to improving or introducing new functions, access to further modifications. A specialized research staff enables solving current technological problems, performing research at every stage of production and sharing know-how in order to increase the availability of products on the market. This applies to masterbatches and lubricants.

The company sees an advantage in providing services to its customers in designing a product with the use of their substances and introducing changes in the percentage of additives on an ongoing basis in order to finally achieve the assumed goals. Constant cooperation and assistance will allow continuous monitoring and assessment of changes taking place on the market and allow several years of cooperation with various companies and independent R&D units.

The company carries out expert opinions, conducts and supervises external research projects, and cooperates with other R&D laboratories in the implementation of new products based on nanotubes and graphene with enhanced and unique properties.

The company offers 4 ranges of products:
• Functional masterbatches for the plastics, paints and varnish industry (promising market with high individualisation of production).
• Micro-carbons impregnator for operation in extreme conditions of temperature (over 2000 oC) and pressure (over 100 ATM),
• Cutting fluids for industry, including MQL. Available in the form of: emulsions, dispersions and oil. The first tests were carried out at the Rzeszów University of Technology to certify the properties of, among others, for the Aviation Valley in Poland,
• Lubricants (biodegradable) intended for the lubrication of devices with access to water, railway sleepers, agricultural machinery, drilling platforms, etc. (EU, Norway, Germany, France, Poland and others).
The company implements an innovative group of products which are functional masterbatches based on admixtures in the form of carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoflakes, which change the mechanical and electrical properties of polymers, paints and varnishes. Masterbags designed for plastics increase their mechanical strength, while masterbinders for conductive paints and varnishes, replacing copper or silver, improve electrical conductivity at very low admixture concentrations. The operation of the designed enriching additives for lubricants (level IV) is based on the use of the low-dimensional effect, i.e. the reduction of the dimensions of carbon components, graphene and nanotubes. A small amount of additive to lubricants and cutting fluids drastically reduces the coefficient of friction and improves the wear factor of the lubricated components (V). The admixtures are appreciated and are to be used in the MQL scanty lubrication technology. Standards compliance tests are ongoing (IX).
