A series of free webinars on using the Web of Science database will be held for Ukrainian scientists on June 2-5

Within four days, from June 2 to 5, 2020, representatives of higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine can undergo training under the program of webinars on the use of the Web of Science Core Collection database. Classes are free and will be held in Ukrainian.

Video lectures will be useful to heads of institutions, members of the editorial board, researchers, graduate students and students.

Webinars are hosted by Clarivate Analytics. The lecturer will be an expert on information and analytical resources and company training Iryna Tikhonkova.

According to the organizers, after each webinar, registered participants will be able to receive a certificate provided that they pass 90% of the lecture material.

Theme: What the new Web of Science Core Collection interface is preparing for us

Summary: The Web of Science platform is being upgraded and updated. A new interface with basic search is already available for viewing. At the webinar they will show live what will be changed, what will remain unchanged, compared with the interface, exist, repeat the algorithm for searching data, storing information, available functions. A search will also be conducted on the topic and analyzed by whom, where and in which countries the work was carried out, at what expense were financed, in which publications they were published.

Theme: Criteria and procedure for selecting publications in the Web of Science Core Collection

Summary: During the webinar, the criteria for the quality of scientific publications, the procedure for submitting a publication for evaluation and the criteria by which selection is conducted will be considered. We will also talk about how to evaluate your own publication, count citations in the Web of Science Core Collection, determine which publications are on this topic (potential competitors or whose experience can help the publication develop), articles on topics by which scientists, of which institutions/countries are printed in such publications. On the role, rights and obligations, authors, reviewers, members of the editorial board. How to find reviewers. Technical elements: website, ISSN, doi.

Theme: Institutional profile in Web of Science: creation, adjustment, use

Summary: Why can there be difficulties with the identification and correct assessment of the publication activities of the institution? What scale of losses can be, what and how can it affect? What is the function and capabilities of the profile of the institution, the procedure for its creation. Who! What algorithm? What is the deadline? How to add or remove redundant publications. What if the name of the institution has changed? What indicators can be calculated in Web of Science Core Collection and InCites. How to create a list of documents of a certain institution for certain years in a specific format.

Theme: InCites analytic capabilities

Summary: According to the Web of Science database, you can determine how many documents, what type the scientist, institution, country published, the number of citations in which publications is made, and automatically calculate the h-index (Worst Index) and the average citation of the document. But how do these data compare with the global average, it is better to cite works that are more successful collaborations, which institutions are more productive and efficient for joint projects, than a particular institution has better indicators, practices can be borrowed. What indicators and indicators are available in InCites and how is CNCI calculated.

These and other issues will be discussed at a viewing webinar dedicated to the InCites analytical tool, which will be held for the first time in Ukrainian.
