Government, IT companies and IT academies will collaborate to train IT professionals

The Ukrainian IT market needs about 40,000 new professionals. But the modern education system in Ukraine cannot provide the required influx of highly skilled IT professionals. Partial solution to this problem can be professional reorientation. After all, many talented people have acquired in their time specialties that are not in demand in the modern market. And it is the IT-sphere that can become a new place of work for them.

Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, State Employment Center, IT Ukraine Association and IT Academies have launched a pilot project in Kyiv that will help anyone to evaluate their potential as an IT specialist, to choose and get a specialty.

The relevant Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, State Employment Center of Ukraine, Association “IT Ukraine”, Hillel Computer School, STEP Computer Academy, Association of ITEC Educational Initiatives, and IT-ITEA Training Academy.

How will the project help prepare IT-professionals?

The first phase of the pilot project began on 3 April. This is a Pathfinder test, created by ITEA with the support of the Ministry of Finance and IT training centers. Its purpose is to help people choose a profession in a promising field. Based on the information provided by the person, artificial intelligence in Pathfinder selects the closest profession from the list of relevant IT-directions (preliminary project participants collected information which specialists the Ukrainian IT-companies need). the result: several areas of choice in which it could be developed, and a brief description of them. The test is available on the website of the State Employment Center via https://skills.dcz.gov.ua/course/test-na-vyznachennya-kompetenczij-dlya-roboty-v-it-sferi/

In the second phase, project participants will have to undergo a second test. It will identify the candidates’ overall capabilities and potential.

Then, according to the results of passing the second test, the most suitable candidates are determined. These people will be able to attend the IT academies participating in the project. The training will be paid by the State Employment Center with funds allocated by the state for such purposes.

Upon completion of the training, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and IT Ukraine Association will facilitate the recruitment of candidates in leading IT companies.

If the pilot project proves successful, this scheme will start operating throughout the country from September this year.
