The Ministry of Community and Territory Development of Ukraine clarified the requirements for regional development projects to be financed by the EU
The Ministry of Community and Territory Development of Ukraine held an online meeting with the regions to clarify the changes in the procedure and requirements for the competitive selection of regional development projects that can be implemented using the state budget received from the European Union.
The meeting was attended by Ivan Lukerya, Advisor to the Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Valentнna Moskalenko, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, representatives of the Regional Policy Directorate of the Ministry of Regional Development, state administrations, local governments and regional development agencies.
As Ivan Lukerya noted, the Ministry of Regional Development expects from the regions until October 20 projects aimed at stimulating the development of regions. “UAH 551 million has been allocated from the State budget for the Program, which should be directed to the implementation of regional development programs and projects that hide the development of communities and territories of Ukraine”, – he said.
Among the key changes in the competitive selection is the expansion of the number of participants. From now on, the applicant for the project can be the central or local executive authority, local government bodies and regional development agencies. In particular, the applicants must be those local self-government bodies and those district administrations that are centers of newly communities and centers of enlarged districts.
Compared to the previous competition, the list of programs for which projects can be submitted has also been expanded. “Now there are 7 regional development programs. These are “Innovative Economy and Investments”, “Rural Development”, “Tourism Development”, “Human Development”, “All-Ukrainian Solidarity”, “Support for the Development of Depressive Territories” and “Effective Management of Regional Development”. I emphasize that the projects presented under these programs do not relate to financing the repair or maintenance of facilities, but should be aimed at the development of communities and territories”, – said Ivan Lukerya.
