Gismart will invest in startups – gamedev studios

Gamedev company Gismart, which opened an office in Kyiv in December 2019, announced an affiliate program for mobile game studios. In short: the studio can get money to develop and promote the game, and the concept of the game will be provided by the publisher.

The program works like this:

• The company is looking for studios that already have completed projects, and the team includes producers, game designers, Unity developers and 2D / 3D artists.
• Gismart presents to the studio a concept of the game (which showed good results on tests) – the studio proposes the implementation of such a game based on its experience, and begins to work on it.

According to Lana Meisak, director of business development and marketing at Gismart, the company tests about 400 game concepts monthly, producing dozens of concepts with CPIs below $ 0.10-0.15. These concepts will be offered to studios who want to work in such a program.

• When the first version of the game is ready, it is tested for CPI (price per install), Retention and LTV. If the game performs well, it is launched. At this stage, the studio receives the main investment.
• The specific amount of investment in Gismart is not called – in each case it will be determined individually, however, it is noted that the budget for promotion can be up to several million dollars per month.

“We are ready to cover the costs of creating an extended prototype, which we will test for Retention and LTV, or, if the studio works exclusively with us, then we are ready to consider simply monthly coverage of the costs of maintaining the team. The marketing budget for each game can go up to several million dollars per month. This is also our investment”, – the company explained.

• Now the company is ready to work according to this scheme with 10-15 mobile game development studios.

According to company representatives, such a model is useful for studios in that it reduces the risks of project failure. And the company itself benefits from publishing games with a proven model. And as a publisher, receives a share of the profits.
