10 Ukrainian projects will receive more than 9 million euros under the EU Erasmus+ program – they will be engaged in the development of higher education

46 Ukrainian universities and other organizations will receive funding of more than 9 million euros. 10 projects out of 164 have been selected for capacity building in higher education under the European Union Erasmus+ program. These are the results of the 2020 competition announced by the Education, Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission.

“The European Union supports a large number of Erasmus+ projects to promote and implement educational reforms, strengthen international cooperation, increase the employment of specialists and develop innovations. However, in my opinion, the main goal of the Erasmus+ program is to unite people from all over the world”, – said Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

These 10 projects are aimed at modernizing educational programs from social sciences and engineering, health and environment; modernization of the management of higher education institutions; strengthening the links of the higher education system with the economic and social environment.

On the Ukrainian side, 36 institutions of higher education, 1 research institution, 1 private and 2 state enterprises, 2 public organizations, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine and National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. In addition, three Ukrainian universities act as grant recipients and project coordinators: Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Lviv Polytechnic National University and Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic National University.

Also, 59 partners from 22 countries of the world will join the project teams: 34 organizations from 15 member countries of the Program (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Finland, France) and 25 organizations from 7 countries-partners of the Program (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova, Tajikistan).

Some of the projects will start their activities from November 2020, others – from January 2021.

Erasmus+ is a European Union program for the period 2014-2020 that supports cooperation projects, partnerships, events and mobility in the fields of education, training, youth and sports.

The Capacity Building in Higher Education (KA2: CBHE) area is a separate component of the international dimension of the Erasmus+ program in higher education. Within the framework of competitions for 2015 to 2019, 38 projects were financed with the participation of 200 organizations from Ukraine, including 120 higher educational institutions. The total grant amount of projects is more than 27 million euros.
