Ukrainian enterprises finance innovations mainly at their own expense – analytical research “Innovative activity in Ukraine in 2019”
What are the positions of Ukraine in international indices for innovation potential? How many Ukrainian enterprises innovated and introduced innovations in the past year? What amount of funds and from what sources was spent on this? This is stated in the analytical study “Innovative Activity in Ukraine in 2019”, which was posted on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science on August 19, 2020.
The reference was created on the basis of data from the main administrators of budgetary funds, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, and international indices.
So, last year 782 Ukrainian enterprises carried out innovative activities. Of these, innovations were introduced – products and/or technological processes – 13.8%. For comparison: in 2012, twice as many enterprises were engaged in innovation activity – 1,758, but 13.6% were innovating.
Most of the innovatively active enterprises were engaged in the production of food products (16.8%), as well as machinery and equipment (10.2%).
In general, enterprises spent UAH 14 million on innovations, of which the largest amount was spent on the purchase of machinery, equipment and software (UAH 10 million).
Funding for innovations came mainly at the expense of enterprises – almost 88%. State budget funds were received by 6 enterprises (3.9%), foreign investors – 3 enterprises (0.3%).
