Ministry of Digital Industry, Ministry of Education and YEP launch a course on innovative entrepreneurship at Ukrainian universities
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, together with the startup incubator YEP, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Diya.Biznes and the Ukrainian Startup Fund will introduce the course “Innovative Entrepreneurship and Management for Startup Projects” in Ukrainian universities within the framework of the “Entrepreneurial University” project.
The pilot project “Entrepreneurial University” will begin in September 2020. Its goal is to develop entrepreneurial education and start-up movement in Ukrainian universities.
At the first stage of the project, the discipline “Innovative entrepreneurship and management of start-up projects” will be introduced in the pilot universities of the country.
Already in the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, university teachers will undergo preliminary training on the subject of the course (online August 26-28), the curriculum will be integrated in universities within existing disciplines or as an elective subject, and course teachers will receive constant support from experts and mentors YEP.
It is assumed that during the course, students will create their own startup projects and submit them for participation in the startup competition. The best teams will get a chance to receive individual mentoring support from YEP, Diya.Biznes, Ukrainian Startup Fund, Cisco, OKKO, Genesis, REACTOR.UA, TechUkraine and other project partners.
The course program was reviewed by international partners and experts, University of North Carolina (USA), University of Tartu (Estonia), Elena Donets (ex-director of the startup accelerator of Tel Aviv University, co-founder of Duco.io, Israel).
“The national project Diya.Business provides comprehensive and comprehensive assistance to entrepreneurs through the creation of an ecosystem of support for entrepreneurs. It is important for us that people start their own business and develop it successfully. In this context, the formation of entrepreneurial skills at the university is an important component of the Diya.Business project”, – says Valeria Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.
“Today, Ukrainian inventors, innovators, and startups really have limited access to knowledge on how to turn their developments or creative ideas into innovative products and services. Therefore, we hope that this project will expand the possibilities for such access. On the one hand, the course will give new knowledge and practice to students and teachers, and on the other hand, in the future, it will allow universities to attract additional funds from the implementation of their developments. It is also important that in the course there is an emphasis on the consideration of cases in terms of the scientific component”, – noted Yulia Bezvershenko, Director General of the Science and Innovation Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science.
“We have been working with universities for a long time, but for the first time we are integrating startup management into the educational process. Students’ work on startups will be counted as an official discipline at the university. It is also very important that we constantly improve the qualifications of the teachers of this course”, – comments the founder of YEP Andriy Zaikin.
Universities that will take part in the pilot project will have the opportunity to participate in the next stages of the Entrepreneurial University project.
To join the program, authorized persons from universities must fill out a questionnaire by August 15: https://forms.gle/7jCJY9nPRjApdqhG9
