KPI awarded scientists from the most cited publications in Scopus
The KPI awarded scientists from the Igor Sikorsky KPI takes 6th place out of 177 Ukrainian universities in terms of the SciVerse Scopus database. Monitoring was conducted in April by the Osvita.ua website. Among the evaluation criteria are indicators of publication activity: the number of publications, the number of citations and the Worst Index. They are defined by international scientific databases Scopus and Web of Science. Over the past two years, the Worst Index in the KPI has grown markedly by the most cited in Scopus publications.
“In international rankings, the Worst Index is important – it shows how university staff are represented in leading international scientific journals. This affects the credibility of the university – because our scientists are published in those publications where they accept only recognized works”, – commented Yury Yakimenko, First Vice-Rector of the KPI.
This year, KPI awarded its scientists; in 2019, it was published in Scopus journals and with its articles increased the overall rating of KPI. The impact factor of the awarded scientists is at least 0.5. Among the publications of the awarded scientists, works are presented mainly in the technical and natural areas.
In total, 359 scientific and pedagogical workers, 7 scientists and 9 students were awarded, and the total fund of premiums is UAH 700 thousand. The minimum amount of the award to authors for publication activity will be UAH 500, the maximum – limited to the amount of UAH 15 thousand. The minimum amount of the prize will be received by 141 authors, the maximum – 4.
Now KPI has a Hirsch index of 61. Awarding authors of cited publications in publications with a high impact factor will contribute to further growth of the index and the university gaining a higher place in the ratings.
