A domestic test system for diagnosing coronavirus was presented in Ukraine
The kit will be able to identify 100% of specific viral RNAs with three genes.
At the Second National Forum of Microbiologists, Immunologists, Allergists and Clinical Medicine Specialists, which took place in Kharkiv, representatives of the test system for the diagnosis of COVID-19 of Ukrainian origin. This was reported by Ukrinform.
– Among other achievements of scientists, attention is drawn to the development of specialists of the Odessa company PP “SIMESTA”. This is a test system for the detection, that is, the detection of RNA of the SARS-COV-2 coronavirus. It is based on a set of reagents that work in real time (PCR-REAL-TIME-SARS-CoV-2), – said the director of the institute, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Valery Minukhin.
So, this system allows you to isolate 100% of specific viral RNA with three genes – from blood, saliva, and tissue or cell fragments. For comparison, most of the kits available today diagnose 1-2 genes, which reduces the effectiveness of the study.
According to Minukhin, the presented test system was developed according to the WHO requirements and adhering to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.
In early September, the chief sanitary doctor Viktor Lyashko announced that Ukraine is working on the development of a test system that allows to determine from the first sample what a person is sick with – flu, parainfluenza or COVID-19. According to him, the Ministry of Health has already sent an order to scientists for these tests. Meanwhile, scientists have promised to make a test system that will detect different types of viruses.
