Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Startups Support Center opened in Chernihiv

Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Startups Support Center opened in Chernihiv at the Regional Development Agency of Chernihiv Oblast and with the participation of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.
“Today I and my small delegation had the opportunity to visit two innovative businesses in Chernihiv. These are two success stories of how these companies have been able to move from Chernihiv to the global level. This business hub has been created to support such stories, small and medium-sized enterprises”, EU Ambassador in Ukraine, Head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, said at a briefing.

According to the Head of Chernihiv Regional State Administration Andriy Prokopenko, a business accelerator, an IT-school with the involvement of Swedish partners will work at the Center, various activities to promote entrepreneurship, start-ups and innovations will be held in it.

The head of the region thanked the European partners for the cooperation and expressed his hope that the work of the hub will give impetus to the process of creating new jobs in the region and, consequently, to the development of the economy. Today, according to Prokopenko, 80% of new jobs in the region are given by small and medium-sized businesses.

The creation of a hub in Chernihiv was the result of a three-year cooperation between the Chernihiv regional state administration and the European project Forbes aimed at supporting business. UAH 5.3 million was used for reconstruction of the premises under the Center from the State Regional Development Fund in co-financing with the regional budget (10%).
