Y Combinator has issued a guide for startups – 70 pages about Series A rounds

Startup hatchery Y Combinator has released a comprehensive guide to Series A rounds for startups. This is the initial stage of investment that follows preseed and seed investments. You can read the text at the link.

The Y Combinator manual is divided into several sections:

  • Quick Tactical Guide – an overview of to-dos at each stage of the raise. This is a tactically focused orientation to the Series A process from start to finish. We suggest using this section to direct you to the part of the guide that is most relevant to you
  • Preparation – the strategy and tactics behind how to prepare for a Series A raise
  • Investment Materials – our best practices for creating a compelling pitch, deck and memo for investors
  • Process – the theory, strategy, and tactics founders need over the course of a fundraise
  • Closing – every successful round eventually closes. We’ve created a plan to ensure that your close is as fast as possible.

YC partner Adam Harris told TechCrunch in an interview that the problem of today’s market is misunderstanding. Many people think that Series A rounds are prepared solely with the company’s business metrics: ARR and revenue. In fact, these metrics may be strikingly different than needed, but they will invest in the future of the company, given its founder and current status.

YC itself now accepts startups for summer selection – applications can be submitted by March 16th. Companies receive up to $ 150,000 and three-month acceleration in the Valley.
