How to use the analytical tool INCITES, author’s IDs PUBLONS and ORCID: webinars on using the WEB OF SCIENCE CORE COLLECTION database

From 12 to 16 October 2020, the next series of free webinars on the use of the Web of Science Core Collection platform will be held for Ukrainian scientists.

Clarivate continues to educate anyone interested in using the Web of Science Core Collection platform. In particular, the analytical tool InCites, which functions on its basis, in order to assess the effectiveness of scientific cooperation and the possibilities of grant support to scientists. The issues of using the EndNote reference manager for the design of publications in the selected format, the use of the author’s Publons and Orcid identifiers for the presentation of their own results and application in scientometrics are considered.

The webinars will be held in Ukrainian. During each day, it is planned to hold a webinar on a specific topic with one or two repetitions so that participants can choose a time convenient for themselves.

The lecturer will be a specialist in information and analytical resources and training at Clarivate, Ph.D. Iryna Tikhonkova.

To participate in the webinars, you must fill out the registration form by clicking on the appropriate link.

Participants who attend at least 90% of the classes will receive the appropriate certificates.

Theme: Introduction to Scientometrics.

Description: Historical excursion. Subject, purpose, tasks of scientometrics. Data used for analysis, their sources, quality requirements. Main indicators of advantages and disadvantages: impact factor and its variations, h-index, CNCI. The impact of open access on the development of science. Correct and incorrect application, causes and consequences. The use of scientometrics to build a strategy for the development of the scientific activity of a scientist, institution, country. Objective assessment of the publication activities of the institution. Institutional and author profiles: functions and capabilities.

Theme: EndNote Reference Manager: Fast, error-free publishing.

Description: EndNote features and functions. Beginning of work. Create, fill and order your own collection of articles. Import of publications on the Web of Science Core Collection, online libraries, search engines, publication site, manual creation of a record. The structure of the article. Formats of work literature. Registration of manuscripts in the format of the journal. Exporting data from EndNote. reporting.

Theme: Opportunities to Leverage Web of Science Core Collection Platform Resources to Successfully Submit a Grant Application.

Description: Using the capabilities of the Web of Science Core Collection platform to obtain grant support. Search and analysis of literature, partners for research, sources of funding, assessment of your own chances using a database. Detailed analysis of the effectiveness of cooperation using the analytical system InCites. Procedures and features for evaluating grant applications, what you should pay attention to when preparing a project.

Theme: Author Profiles: Creation, Adjustment, Features.

Description: Presentation of the achievements of the scientist. Difficulties and why may arise when searching for works by an individual author? Assessment of the author’s scientific heritage in the Web of Science Core Collection. What metrics other than the Worse index are available? How can you influence the citation of a work? Distribution of publications, can the author post his work in the public domain? Author profiles Publons, ResearcherID, ORCID, ResearchGate, Google Scholar: creation, content, support, correct use.
