On October 9, Public Health will host the final of the BioMedTech competition for biomedical innovative startups
Startups present “smart” hands, “live” heart implants, etc.
Within the framework of the 29th international medical exhibition Public Health 2020, the final part of the first competition “Source of Innovation” will be held. This is a competition to find and select innovative startups in medicine and healthcare – BioMedTech, reports Hubs.
On Friday, October 9, at 13:30, a jury of nine well-known scientists and businessmen will determine the winners among the 5 startups that reached the final. Venue: International Exhibition Center, 1 pavilion, entrance 1 A (m. Kyiv, Brovarskoy prospect, 15, metro station “Livoberezhna”). The first BioMedTech Innovative Technology Startup Competition “Source of Innovation” was launched in summer 2020. By September 1, 2020, everyone has applied for participation. On September 25, the jury selected 5 finalist startups that met certain evaluation criteria. In the final part, each of the five main winners will be given 5 minutes for the presentation of the project and 2 minutes for a question from the jury.
Top 5 BioMedTech startups will present such unique innovations as “smart” artificial limb-arm with artificial intelligence; “Live” cardio implants from human own cells; ECG calculator (generates a passport of the heart condition); crutch load detector for effective rehabilitation in case of injuries; automation of healthcare management processes.
The main prize for startups that will take 1st and 2nd places is the presentation of the project at the international medical forum MEDICA in Dusseldorf (Germany) in November 2021 (a global medical exhibition, travel expenses and participation in MEDICA are covered by the organizers of the competition).
A separate prize for 1 place is an acceleration program for the development of a startup. Consulting industry experts, technological expertise of a product, knowledge of creating an effective business model and introducing a product to the market, seeking investments, certification of a product, consulting on legal and other issues.
The prize for 2nd place – a program for complex analysis of a startup (due diligence). The technological expertise of the product, analysis of the financial and business model, consultations of specialized experts on the search for investments, bringing the product to international markets, advice on legal and other issues.
Prizes for 3-5 places – training program “How to create a product from an idea and grow a successful business?”.

- Olexandr Litvin, quality manager of UTAS company, a national manufacturer of diagnostic and life support equipment, auditor of ISO, MDD, MDR;
- Olga Maslova, co-founder of Nobilitet and Needorium, radio host of the Science Like Clockwork program, popularizer of science, cell biologist;
- Oleksiy Lazorenko, founder and CEO of BlaBlaCar Ukraine, entrepreneur, start-up;
- Tatyana Anikeeva, medical director of the Dobrobut network, doctor of medical sciences;
- Olexandr Kolyada, co-founder and scientific director of the Diagen laboratory, scientist, geneticist;
- Anastasia Prisyazhna, Product Manager Biomindmap, Scientist, Nutritionist Consultant.
The competition and event “Source of Innovation” in the field of BioMedTech is organized by the public union “Source Expo” and DP “Premier Expo” (organizer of Public Health).
The purpose of the annual competition: develop the Ukrainian market of biomedical innovations that can improve methods of prevention, treatment, diagnosis of diseases, improve the quality of healthcare.
