Ukraine and Belgium discussed issues of cooperation in the field of education and science
On October 6, 2020, a meeting of the acting Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ukraine Alex Lenarts was held.
During the meeting, topical issues of regulation of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Belgium in the field of science and technology were discussed.
“In my opinion, the conclusion of a bilateral agreement will open up opportunities for enhancing scientific activity, conducting joint research between universities and scientific institutions of both countries”, – stressed Sergiy Shkarlet.
He also said that today Ukrainian scientists already have established contacts with scientific institutions of the Kingdom of Belgium. So, since 2017, according to the Scopus abstract database, there are already 32 collaborations between scientific institutions of the two countries and 945 joint scientific publications have been prepared.
The parties stressed that such examples of cooperation can serve as a good basis for further intensification of scientific research between scientists of Ukraine and Belgium and become an impetus for strengthening cooperation at the interdepartmental or intergovernmental levels.
