Ukrainian Startup Fund held twelfth Pitch day

On September 25, the Ukrainian Startup Fund held the twelfth Pitch Day. The event took place in an offline format on the territory of the UNIT.City innovation park. 12 startups made presentations (pitch). All of them are at the pre-seed stage (applying for state grant funding of $ 25,000 each).

The event began with a greeting from the Minister of Finance of Ukraine 2018-2020 Oksana Markarova:

“I am very pleased to be here already at the twelfth pitch. I remember the days when we just walked through the corridors of the Cabinet of Ministers and tried to convince everyone that such an initiative is really needed and not once there, but directly here and now. Although the foundation is a state I always noted that experts, the supervisory board and other managers cannot be state ones. For six months now I have not been a minister and looking back it is pleasant to admit that everything was done correctly and the corporate model justified itself. I wish success to those teams that speak and conclude my speech with a quote Albert Einstein “The problem can never be solved at the level at which it was created. To do this, you always need to rise to a level higher”.

The teams were supported by Feras Muzilli, Managing Partner of Lloyd & Mousilli and a former corporate lawyer for Apple and Dell:

“It is an honor and joy to be here with you now as a representative of the Silicon Valley community. I was invited to this event six months ago, in San Francisco, where I met with Pavel and his team and I was familiar with the vision of the Ukrainian Startup Fund. I thank all for your efforts! Your rapid development reminds me of the beginning of the creation of Silicon Valley, which now unites the community. The only way a startup ecosystem grows and develops is when people from different areas come together. Here at UNIT.City, just such : representatives of the financial sector, industrial, legal, IT professionals … What I see goes beyond IT, this is the transformation of the country, the development of the intellectual property sphere. It’s nice to be a part of this process. I wish good luck to the fund and the teams of the 12th pitch !”

The solemn part was completed by the Director of Innovation at DTEK Emanuele Volpe, who, together with the Director of the Fund Pavlo Kartashev, signed a memorandum of cooperation:

“Today, DTEK is like a cruiser in restless waters, looking for a beacon that will point it in the right direction. And small, but fast and maneuverable frigates that are able to pick up our large cruiser and help it moor in the desired bay will help it in this. This is where the Innovation DTEK story began two years ago and the first acceleration program for startups was launched with our team of only five people to create a different approach from corporations to communicate with the innovation ecosystem. stakeholders, among whom the first place belonged and still belongs to startups. Their approaches to business are very different from large corporations, they are different. That is why, observing their numerous successes that break the old rules, we began to closely monitor them and moreover, we began to study in them. Fund is becoming an increasingly important player in promoting innovative business every day, and that is why I am pleased with the beginning of our already official cooperation, which will certainly help the development of the Ukrainian startup ecosystem. The unification of such powerful partners will definitely not go unnoticed”.
