The European Commission launches the first comprehensive project competition “European Green Deal Call H2020”
Within the framework of the European Union’s research and innovation program Horizon 2020, the European Commission (EC) has launched the first comprehensive project competition “European Green Deal Call H2020” in the direction of the “European Green Deal”.
Ukrainian researchers can join the competition and facilitate the transfer of modern European technologies to Ukraine.
The competition was presented during the EC annual conference “European Research and Innovation Days”, which took place on September 22-24, 2020.
The budget of the competition is approximately 1 billion euros. The deadline for applications is January 26, 2021. Selected projects will be implemented in September 2021.
European Commission will finance projects in ten areas:
- increased climate ambitions (55% reduction in emissions by 2030);
- clean, affordable and safe energy;
- the industry for a clean and circular economy;
- energy efficient and economic buildings;
- sustainable and smart transport;
- “Field to Table” strategy – a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system;
- biodiversity and ecosystems;
- zero pollution, non-toxic environment;
- strengthening knowledge about the European Green Deal;
- empowerment of citizens, their involvement in the implementation of the “European Green Deal”.
During the current EC conference “European Days of Research and Innovation” Frans Timmermans, EC Executive Vice President for the European Green Agreement, noted that quick answers on the path to green transformation are still needed by both the governments of the member states, industry, the energy sector, and ordinary people. who seek to understand and believe in this process.
In addition, within the framework of the project “Support for Research and Innovation Cooperation of the Eastern Partnership Countries with the European Union”, the EC, with the participation of the Project Management Agency of the German Aerospace Research Center (DLR Project Management Agency), organizes virtual trainings on applying for the European Green Deal Call H2020.

Also, Ukrainian researchers are invited to take part in the First European Greenathon Competition. The competition will be held online on October 27-30, 2020.
