Ukrainians launched Catchar start-up marketplace for AR projects
Ukrainians have launched a startup Catchar.io. This is a marketplace for developers and companies that work with augmented and mixed reality (AR and MR). On the platform, you can create your own AR portfolios and look for developers, co-founder and CEO of the project Danilo Zaitsev told AIN.UA.
Who’s on the team
The first version of Catchar was launched in 2018. Three co-founders are working on the project: Zaitsev himself, as CEO, is responsible for new features, as well as marketing and support; CTO Dmitro Zolotar and CDO Sergiy Lagodzinsky (responsible for UX / UI design). In addition to the founders, two more people work in the project in support, the team is located in Kyiv and Odesa.
What kind of product?
Catchar — is a platform where AR and MR app developers can sell and buy such products. For example, a couple of weeks ago, a marketplace was launched on the site, where creators can sell their 3D models, templates and code. Catchar also works as a catalog of AR applications for users (there are about 1750+ lenses, applications and projects for Snapchat, Instagram, iPhone, Android, HoloLens and Magic Leap).
In the 10 months since the launch of the second version, about 5275 users have joined Catchar, 1038 of them are augmented reality developers. About 68 AR / MR companies, studios and startups are represented on Catchar.
How do they plan to develop?
The team is currently testing different business models: subscriptions, commissions from sales on the marketplace, paid promotion of AR / MR applications and other products.
The project is being developed at its own expense, but the team is thinking about raising a seed round or attracting angel investments.
