At the Second Forum of the Energy Efficiency Fund, the pace of implementation of energy efficient projects in Ukraine was discussed
On September 23, the II All-Ukrainian Forum of the Energy Efficiency Fund was held. This year, the event brought together representatives of the state and executive authorities of the country, the best Ukrainian and international experts on energy efficiency in the housing sector, condominiums and representatives of local authorities. The panellists discussed the pace of implementation of energy efficiency reform in Ukraine.
“Over the past three months, the Fund has received twice as many applications than in the entire previous period of work, since September 2019. The increase in the number of participants in the Energodom Program indicates an increase in the activity of the population, the desire of people to comprehensively modernize their homes and save on utility bills”, – noted Vasil Lozinsky, First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
“This year has become a defining one for the Fund: in September 2019, the Energodom program was launched, which helps condominiums to implement energy efficient projects. A year later, the Fund received 204 applications for more than 1.3 billion hryvnia, more than 18,000 Ukrainian families are now participating in the Program”, – comments Yulia Holovatyuk-Unguryanu, Director of the Energy Efficiency Fund.
The discussion was joined by Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and Jürgen Keinhorst, Head of Cooperation with Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
“Energy efficiency is at the heart of this new EU policy. This has been the case over the past years, and this will be one of the most important areas of cooperation between Europe and Ukraine. The Energy Efficiency Fund plays an important role in stabilizing the Ukrainian economy after the current crisis, since energy efficiency is a new market for the country, which creates new business and new jobs. We have allocated over 100 million euros for grants and technical assistance from the Foundation. This is one of the largest EU initiatives in Ukraine”, – comments Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
Representatives of Poland and Lithuania shared their international experience in the field of energy efficiency. There were direct connections from cities where work is underway in houses under the terms of the Program (Odesa, Chertkov, Lutsk, Cherkasy). The chairpersons of the condominiums shared their experience in managing projects for the thermal modernization of houses.
Also during the forum, a new opportunity was presented to the Energodom Program – professional support for energy modernization projects in buildings. The fund reimburses up to 70% of the cost of project managers’ services and provides training for those who want to help condominiums to better implement projects.
Representatives of local governments throughout Ukraine took part in the forum. During the event, 27 memorandums of cooperation were signed between the Energy Efficiency Fund, the city halls.
