Ukrainian organizations have won 38 new projects on European integration in the Jean Monnet direction of the EU Erasmus+ program
38 projects of the Jean Monnet direction, coordinated by 24 universities and other organizations in Ukraine, were selected for financing more than € 1,400,000 under the European Union Erasmus+ Program. A total of 360 projects from all over the world were chosen for financing. These are the results of the 2020 Jean Monnet Competition announced by the Education, Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission.
Jean Monnet’s focus includes courses, studies, conferences and other activities in the field of European Studios, which combine European studies with a particular focus on the European integration process. In particular, 38 Ukrainian winning projects represent:
- Jean Monnet’s 25 modules, which are short curricula on EU policy in transport, food law, rural tourism, small and medium-sized enterprises and cybersecurity; European integration within the framework of the legislation on the Internet of Things, e-democracy, civil aviation, decentralization and public administration; successful EU practices in research, teaching and development of common competences, intercultural communication, urban revitalization, etc;
- 2 Jean Monnet centers of excellence for European development strategies, circular and green economies. Such centers will attract students from non-European study faculties, as well as politicians, civil servants, organized civil society and the general public to create links between different disciplines;
- 5 Jean Monnet Chairs at Universities – teaching and research positions with a specialization in European Studies;
- 5 Jean Monnet projects to explore new methodologies to make EU topics more attractive and adaptable to different target groups, as well as to promote debate and reflection on various European Union issues and to carry out activities;
- 1 Jean Monnet Association, which will contribute to the study of the European integration process.
Starting from September 2020, 24 organizations from different cities of Ukraine (Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv) will start implementing Jean Monnet projects:
- 21 institutions of higher education: State higher educational institution “Donbas State Pedagogical University”, Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, Kyiv National University of Technology and Design, National University “Lviv Polytechnic”, National Aviation University, M.P. Dragomanov National Pedagogical University, “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” National Technical University of Ukraine, National University of Food Technologies, National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, National University of Bioresources and Environmental Management of Ukraine, Glukhov Olexandr Dovzhenko National Pedagogical University, Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, higher educational institution of Ukoopsoyuz “Poltava University of Economics and Trade”, Kharkiv National Economic University, Sumy National Agrarian University, Sumy State University, Ternopil Ivan Puluy National Technical University, State Higher Educational Institution “Uzhgorod National University”, Vinnytsia Mikhailo Kotsyubinsky State Pedagogical University, Zaporizhzhia National University;
- 2 public organizations: “Ukrainian Institute of Crisis Management and Conflict Resolution”, “Ukrainian Association of European Integration Teachers and Researchers”;
- 1 research organization Institute of Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.
