Elon Musk believes that DeepMind startup poses a threat to humanity

The company is owned by Google.

Google-owned startup DeepMind is developing artificial intelligence, which is currently the most dangerous for humanity, said Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He admits that within five years, computer thinking will surpass humans, writes the website “Securitylab“.

“Artificial intelligence, which is being developed by Google-owned company DeepMind, raises great concerns”, – said Musk in an interview with The New York Times, quoted by Forbes. Elon is a longtime proponent of overseeing the development of computer thinking, and according to the billionaire, DeepMind worries him the most at the moment.

“Even the very essence of the artificial intelligence they create is one that destroys all people in all games. This is literally the plot of War Games”, – Musk said. War Games is a 1983 American film. In the story, a hacker breaks into the computer network of the US military and launches artificial intelligence, which almost leads to a nuclear war between the USSR and the USA.

Work on artificial intelligence for Tesla cars has shown the billionaire that humanity is already approaching a situation where artificial intelligence will be significantly smarter than humans. “I think it’s less than five years before. This does not mean that everything will go to hell in five years. It’s just that the situation will become unstable or strange”, – Musk predicts.

According to him, many smart people underestimate artificial intelligence because they don’t even think that a computer can be as smart as a person. “This is pride and an obvious mistake”, – the businessman says categorically.

Earlier, the head of Tesla was seriously concerned about Putin’s statement on artificial intelligence. “It started…” – the head of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk commented on the words of the President of Russia on his Twitter page. He later wrote that Russia is not the only country making efforts in this area.

In 2017, 116 AI and robotics experts from 26 countries wrote an open letter to the United Nations calling for a ban on autonomous weapons based on artificial intelligence.

“Lethal autonomous weapons could be the third revolution in warfare. It will allow war to be waged on an unprecedented scale and at a speed that people cannot comprehend. These weapons will become a weapon of terror used by despotic rulers and terrorists against innocent people, as well as a weapon that can be hacked and act in the most unwanted way”, – the letter said.
