XPrize has launched a competition for the best test for Covid-19. You can participate from Ukraine, the prize fund is $ 5 million

The XPrize Innovation Support Fund, together with the OpenCovidScreen organization, has announced a competition to develop a quick and cheap COVID-19 test. The prize fund is $ 5 million. The publication TechCrunch drew attention to this.

Conditions of the competition

As part of the competition, participants need to create an effective coronavirus test. Among the requirements for testing methods:

• the cost of one test should be no more than $ 15.
• the result must be ready no later than 12 hours after the test.
• sampling should be carried out quickly and minimally invasively.
• after winning the competition, the winners will be able to conduct at least 500 tests within 60 days, and in the future – 1000 tests per week.

Research teams, independent scholars, students and schoolchildren from all over the world can participate. You can register until August 31 by clicking on the link.

Reward

According to the terms of the competition, 5 teams can become winners – each will receive a reward of $ 1 million.

Half of the funds will be awarded after winning the competition. They should go to the development of a pilot project in which testing will be carried out on real patients. The second half will be awarded after the successful completion of the pilot phase.
