40 Ukrainians have won scholarships of the EU Erasmus + program for studies in the master’s program of European universities

40 Ukrainians, together with 2452 scholarship holders from all over the world, will begin their studies at the joint Erasmus Mundus Master’s programs at European universities with financial support from the Erasmus + European Union Program. 2452 winners of the scholarship competition 2020 represent 142 different countries from 6 continents of the world.

Students will study in the joint Erasmus Mundus Joint Degrees master’s programs from August-September this year at the famous universities of Sweden, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Austria, Germany.

This year, Ukrainian students have chosen such topics of master’s programs:

  • urbanization, globalization and gender studies;
  • nanomedicine and social health;
  • tourism, culture, media and art;
  • engineering and IT;
  • economics and entrepreneurship;
  • climate change.

In total, 256 applications were submitted to the 2020 contest from Ukraine among 29,145 applications from candidates from 180 countries of the world. Ukraine is in the TOP-20 countries that showed high results during the contest. In addition, 950 applications were submitted by candidates from the Eastern Partnership countries (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), of which 115 candidates received funding. Ukraine received the highest number of scholarships among these countries.

In total, 248 Ukrainian students study or studied at the joint Erasmus Mundus master programs since 2014 – 234 masters and 14 graduate students. In addition to the educational mission, they play the role of “ambassadors” who popularize and support Ukraine in Europe, and upon return, help to develop and implement reforms in their country.

Reference. Erasmus + is the European Union Program for the period 2014-2020, which supports projects of cooperation, partnerships, events and mobility in the field of education, training, youth and sports.

The Erasmus Mundus joint master’s programs are unique master’s programs developed by a partnership of universities from at least two countries that provide scholarships to candidates from all over the world and cover tuition, transfers, visas, insurance, and a monthly scholarship of 1000 euros. In addition to the main educational programs, students have the opportunity to attend language and other courses, as well as learn more about European countries, new traditions and cultures along with classmates from around the world.
