Changes in appearance. The Ukrainian application for replacing faces in gif has reached 1 million downloads
The Doublicat face-swapping GIF application developed by Ukrainians reached just over 1 million downloads in just 4 months.
The application was created by the RefaceAI team and is based on face replacement technology. Users can embed their faces in GIFs and create personalized memes.
Unlike other face replacement technologies, RefaceAI does not use CGI or 3D modeling, the technology works exclusively on artificial intelligence. It is based on the modern method of machine learning – GAN (Generative Adversarial Nets), which makes GIFs so realistic. The application offers users thousands of GIFs, divided into categories, themes and reactions. The application itself is free, but you can purchase a premium version – a subscription for those who want to upload their own GIFs and photos.
In May, Doublicat reached 1 million downloads, 20 million created GIFs, 4 million GIFs shared on social networks, and 300 thousand active users per month.
The RefaceAI and Doublicat team offers tools for creating content at different levels – from TikTok and Snapchat users to global advertising agencies and the film industry.
“This year we saw how the world can change and go online in one day. When normal shooting is not possible and people consume even more entertaining content, it is important to have ways to create that content. What we offer is a tool that helps content creators continue to create even indefinitely”, – said Ivan Altsibeyev, representative of RefaceAI.
Ivan says that soon enough, Doublicat users will be able to upload not only GIFs, but also their own videos. The startup team also develops creative mechanics within the application, which over time will be available not only to users, but also to brands.
“We see what users like more about how they use technology and how they share content. This helps to offer them exactly what they are looking for and become part of a new reality, where the content creator in TikTok is more popular than the Hollywood star”, – said the developer.
According to the team, preventing fake when using RefaceAI technologies is one of their priorities, therefore, together with advanced versions and wider access to technology, they will launch a deepfake detection tool.
