The competition of Ukrainian-French research projects for 2021-2022 has started
A competition of joint Ukrainian-French research projects for 2021-2022 has begun. It was announced on May 15, 2020 by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France.
Acceptance of applications continues until July 15, 2020.
Priority Directions:
The competition is open to any research groups of higher educational institutions and scientific institutions.
Filing an application:
To participate in the competition it must submitted:
All paper materials must be collected in one signed folder.
- research on the most important problems of the development of scientific, technical, socio-economic, socio-political, human potential to ensure the competitiveness of Ukraine in the world and sustainable development of society and the state;
- information and communication technologies;
- energy and energy efficiency;
- rational nature management;
- life sciences, new technologies for the prevention and treatment of common diseases
- new substances and materials;
- high energy physics;
- agricultural sector;
- humanitarian sciences.
- a cover letter addressed to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, on the letterhead of the applicant institution, in any form, indicating the name of the general project, priority area, full name of the supervisor and with a list of applications (1 copy);
- completed application form for participation in the competition in Ukrainian and English in one file (2 paper copies with signatures and seals of both sides; a scan copy from a French partner is allowed);
- confirmation letter from the French partner (project manager) on the letterhead of the partner institution, in any form, to the name of the head of the applicant institution, indicating the name of the general project and the obligations of the French side to financially ensure the implementation of the project by their scientists (1 copy; a scan copy is allowed);
- examination certificate for the open publication of materials on the subject of the project in any form (1 copy);
- CV in Ukrainian and English in any form of Ukrainian and French scientific supervisors of the project (1 copy each);
- Google profile, which must be accompanied by a completed application in *.doc format. It’s better to fill out the Google form after preparing all the specified documents.
The organizers will consider only those applications that are drawn up in accordance with the specified requirements and were sent on time.
Documents are accepted at the address: Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, blvd. Tarasa Shevchenko, 16, building 310, Kyiv, 01601. They can be submitted in two ways:
- send by mail (the date is determined by a stamp on the envelope of mail);
- submit personally – leave at the cash desk for correspondence, which is located in the lobby of the Ministry of Education and Science at the above address.
Selection stages:
- checking documents for compliance with requirements;
- transfer of applications for scientific examination;
- conducting examinations in parallel in both countries;
- consideration of the results of the examination of the General Ukrainian-French Commission;
- approval by the General Commission of the results of the competition and a list of projects that will receive funding.
Selection criteria:
- scientific compliance;
- scientific quality and innovative character of the project;
- ability and competence of temporary research teams to bring the project to life;
- the possibility of conducting joint research and the adequacy of the scientific method and approach;
- experience of participation in international projects and the future development of international cooperation;
- quality of infrastructure of institutions participating in projects;
- participation in projects of young scientists (up to 35 years old) and women scientists;
- opportunities for practical use of the project.
Managers and key project participants can submit multiple applications. However, managers will not be able to receive funding for more than one project.
Research teams that are currently receiving funding from the previous Ukrainian-French competition can also apply for the current competition. However, their design proposal should be on a new research topic.
Intellectual property
Scientists from the Ukrainian side, in particular project managers, must take all necessary measures to protect the scientific, technical and industrial values that belong to them, as well as intellectual property rights. The main attention will be paid to ensuring that in the framework of cooperation there is no unplanned transfer of Ukrainian technologies to other countries.
Financing
Financing is allocated two years in a row, for each year separately. The decision to continue financing next year is taken after reviewing the report for the previous year of the project.
Funds allocated by two countries designed to provide additional assistance to research teams. This assistance is expressed in ensuring the mobility of scientists and applies to short-term trips (up to one month).
The country of the guide pays the transportation costs of its scientists and medical insurance for the period of their stay in the partner’s country. The host country pays for the costs associated with the stay (accommodation and per diem) according to the Dnipro program.
Financial support also includes the salaries of Ukrainian participants in a research project.
