Ukrainian startup Delfast Bikes received a grant of UAH 3 million from USAID to develop a freight electric bike for couriers
Ukrainian startup Delfast Bikes received a grant from the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine program in the amount of more than UAH 3 million for the development and production of the Delfast Trike three-wheeled electric bike for couriers and delivery services with increased payload.
“Delfast Bikes received a grant from USAID Ukraine in the amount of more than UAH 3 million. The purpose of the grant is to develop and manufacture a new model of electric transport: a three-wheeled electric bike for couriers and delivery services with increased carrying capacity. The relevance of such a transport is obvious to everyone. Cargo bike for couriers (and not only for them) – this is exactly what is needed now and it looks like it will take a long time to come”, – Danilo Tonkopiy, co-founder of the Ukrainian company Delfast Electric Bike Manufacturing, said on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening.
He noted that the development of the Delfast Trike bike has already begun.
Delfast Trike – a three-wheeled electric car designed for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as for individual entrepreneurs. The model has a loading platform that can be used to store boxes or can be converted into a trailer/kiosk for coffee, ice cream or any other type of display case for selling street products. It can also be used as an advertising platform and as a means of tourist transport (tuk-tuk).
As reported, in February, Delfast Bikes, together with 14 other startups, represented Ukraine at the 10th Global Conference of Entrepreneurs and Investors Startup Grind Global 2020 in Silicon Valley; in the top three Ukrainian finalists, he entered the acceleration program Startup Grind Global.
DelFast, the Ukrainian courier delivery service, began selling electric bikes of its own design in 2016. Earlier, DelFast used electric bicycles for commercial delivery in Kyiv within an hour.
