Scientists of Poltava Polytechnic have developed their own design of a protective mask – it is printed on a 3D printer

The National University “Y. Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” began to produce protective multiple-screen masks on a 3D printer. They will be handed out to university employees, and a separate batch will be created for doctors of the Poltava Infectious Disease Hospital.

The 3D model of the plastic holder of the protective screen was created by the teacher of the Institute of Architecture and Construction of Poltava Polytechnic Konstantin Tregubov. His model takes into account the anatomical features of a person and holds the protective screen securely.

The raw material for the printer on which the masks are printed is special thermoplastic filaments. Before starting work, the printer warms up to 250 degrees and prints the screen layer by layer. Due to the multilayer fibers, the product can be disinfected and reused.

“The screen mask protects not only the mucous membrane of the eye, but also the skin that remains exposed during the wearing of a regular individual mask. We use our resources with the maximum result and make our contribution to protecting our health”, – Volodymir Onishchenko, rector of the Poltava Polytechnic said.

Recall that scientists from Sumy State University Medical Institute have developed a clinical protocol for the treatment of patients with COVID-19.
