Lviv Polytechnic manufactures protective masks for doctors on a 3D printer

Lviv City Hall will buy at Tech StartUp School, which operates at NU “Lviv Polytechnic”, protective masks for doctors and adapters for artificial ventilation apparatus (IVL).
This inventory is created in Lviv on a 3D printer, according to the press service of the city council.
“In the midst of a pandemic, Tech StartUp School joins the #Assisters Initiative and begins to print protective medical screens at Tech LabInno. These screens are reusable and disinfectable. It takes about 3 hours to manufacture one protective mask, the adapters for artificial ventilation devices The Lviv city council has already made the first order for them to start working for the benefit of the city’s medicine as soon as possible”, – it is noted in the message.
According to Natalya Ivankova, a representative of the Business Innovation Center at Lviv Polytechnic NU, Tech StartUp School creates adapters (connectors) for IVL devices, with the help of which two patients can be connected to one device at a time. The only condition is for these two people there was an equal volume of lungs (that is, you can connect two young people or two older people). The capacity of the ventilator is enough for 2 people.

“We have already spoken with the chief doctor of the Lviv Ambulance Hospital and ordered 20 of these adapters. We will still decide on the number of masks. We also consider purchasing with the heads of supermarket chains, pharmacies whose employees communicate with people a lot”, – said the deputy mayor development issues of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko.
