The fight against coronavirus: a private Ukrainian company has begun production of packages for mechanical ventilation

Doctors of the Kharkiv Medical Academy posted on social networks the idea of a package for lung ventilation – an alternative to the ventilator, and a private company for the production of household goods realized it in just one day.

Biosphere Corporation responded to the post of Kharkiv physicians, in which they showed the idea of a “substitute” for a scarce artificial respiration apparatus for less complex cases of coronavirus, and embodied it by starting the production of bags for artificial ventilation of the lungs with oxygen. This evening on Sunday, April 5, said the founder and head of the company Andriy Zdesenko on his Facebook.

The patient is not intubated by inserting a tube for breathing into the trachea and connecting to the ventilator, but they put on his head a bag of special polyethylene with two valves and a puff on his throat. Thus, patients with a milder condition, but with difficulty breathing will be provided with oxygen, and artificial respiration devices should be left for severe cases.

According to Zdesenko, he learned about the device from Facebook on the morning of March 27, and in the evening the first samples were sent to Kharkiv for testing.

Now the company is developing drawings for valves and is looking for 3D printing studios that would be taken in production.
