Ukrainian Startup Fund Holds Fifth Pitch Day
On April 28, the Ukrainian Startup Fund held the fifth Pitch Day. Given the quarantine, the event took place remotely using the ZOOM video conferencing service. Presentations (pitch) were made by 8 start-ups at the seed stage, applying for state grant financing in the amount of $ 50,000 each.
The event was launched with a motivational speech, Olexandr Bornyakov, member of the Supervisory Board of the Fund, as well as Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine:
“Today I see teams, and I personally know, but I am more pleased that I don’t know many. This indicates that our startup ecosystem is developing, new projects are appearing. I want to wish all participants success, gain the required number of points. I hope there are no longer people who consider the Ukrainian Startup Fund a fake, as it was last year, when during the meetings doubts were expressed about the fund’s work and its launch, but still the fund is working! Even in quarantine mode, we are looking for opportunities to finance startups c. There is a cool team, a cool system, which was built not according to the bureaucratic institution’s patterns, but how it is done in progressive countries in the civilized world. , where the acceleration program will become one of the directions. We will not just issue grants, but will significantly expand our activities and increase the number of funded projects. So stay tuned for our updates!”.

The main criteria for evaluating projects are: team, market, technology, product, strategy. In each category, a maximum of 5 points (total maximum of 25). The passing grade for recommending the Supervisory Board for a grant (for start-ups at the seed stage) is 15 points.
Based on the results of evaluations of the Competition Commission, the following rating list of startups was formed (from the highest score to the lowest):
Legal Nodes. The legal marketplace that helps technology businesses solve legal issues in different countries of the world. The winners of the latest Lviv IT Arena Startup Competition 2019 were included in the 15 best Ukrainian startups that were selected to participate in the Ukrainian delegation at Startup Grind 2020 in Silicon Valley, organized with the support of USAID and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
SolarGaps. TM SolarGaps are smart blinds based on built-in photovoltaic cells that generate electricity that can be used to power your devices, store in batteries and/or sell excess electricity to an electricity supplier. SolarGaps are able to automatically track the movement of the sun throughout the day, thus adjusting their position to ensure optimal angles of exposure to sunlight and the maximum generation of solar energy.
ChoiZY. An online career guidance platform that helps teens choose a profession and professionals share experiences with young people. The practice on the platform is realized through a task from teachers, and soon for vacancies from practitioners. In addition to adolescents who want to decide on a profession, our platform is open for professionals willing to share experience, educational companies representing services and universities, familiarize themselves with their specialties. So ChoiZY is an online career assistant for teens!
Appraisly. Technology that accurately measures foot size using a mobile app.
Chillinger. Compact and fast drink cooler that you can take with you for a walk, in a car, on a trip, on vacation, for training and get a drink of the desired temperature, where per minute.
MEDIACAST. An innovative operator of Ukrainian television broadcasting abroad. Our potential subscribers are Ukrainian emigrants in the USA, Canada and Europe. MEDIACAST is a platform that allows every Ukrainian or even a foreigner to get unlimited access to viewing excluded Ukrainian TV channels. We are the only OTT operator in the world that broadcasts exclusively Ukrainian TV channels without Russian propaganda.
Spark Systems. Chatbot platform for creating virtual assistants, automating up to 80% of regular processes in distance learning, organizing public events, HR, as well as sales through instant messengers.

At a meeting of the Fund’s Supervisory Board, which will take place in the near future, it will be decided which startups will receive grant financing.
