Remote temperature control: a new development of KPI students
Students of the Department of Telecommunication Systems NTUU “Igor Sikorsky KPI” Olexandr Yatsishin, Artem Dikiy (5 course) and Andriy Maltsev (4 course) developed a project for automated temperature measurement based on ITS. The project was led by Sergiy Osipchuk, Ph.D., Assistant, Department of Telecommunication Systems ITS.
The device measures the temperature, collects data, transfers it and stores it in the cloud storage. So data access is anywhere in the world.
“The basis is a sensor that connects to the board with a built-in Wi-Fi device. Our sensor measures temperature, you can use another one – for example, smoke or light. We purchased all parts of the device on the radio market, so they are quite cheap at cost”, – Olexandr Yatsishin comments on the creation process. In April, Alexander spoke on the topic of development at the international scientific and technical conference “Telecommunication Prospects – 2020” with an English-language report.
Several of these devices are already installed in different KPI buildings. All of them are connected to Wi-Fi, so students can go to a specially created site and, before going in pairs, look at the temperature in the case. However, while the site is in test mode and has stopped working during the quarantine period.
Students worked on the development of new modern disciplines introduced in the curriculum of the TS department (such as “Software control of telecommunication facilities and systems based on Linux OS”) and student groups that operate on the basis of the IEEE 802.11 wireless technology researchers for information transfer “scientific direction,” Researchers of wireless technologies for information transfer for building systems of the Internet of things “engineering direction. So students receive relevant knowledge and skills in the field of info-communications, they embody them in their research and development already at the university.
