Rentberry startup founded by Ukrainians raised $ 2.5 million on WeFunder
Founded by Ukrainians, Rentberry’s online long-term rental platform has raised $ 2.5 million in WeFunder investment from more than 2,000 private investors. Funds plan to spend on launching a new product.
What is Rentberry?
Rentberry — Ukrainian startup in real estate. It was initially launched on the market in the USA, but later on the service was also scaled to Europe and Asia. At the moment, according to the developers, Rentberry is available in more than 40 countries.
Rentberry is a platform for long-term rental housing. All processes – viewing an apartment, signing contracts and monthly payments – occur online. The feature of Rentberry is that on the site you can offer your price for an apartment, literally turning the process of renting out into an auction.
As of 2019, 6 million objects around the world and 900,000 users are registered on the platform. Rentberry currently claims 292,000 active users per month.
The whole Rentberry team, including the founders Oleksiy Lyubinsky and Lilia Ostapchuk, from Ukraine. Product development is carried out in the Kyiv office. Today the company employs 30 people.
On what attracted money
In 2020, Rentberry plans to launch a VR-tool on its platform, which, according to the developers, will help completely eliminate realtors and intermediaries from the rental process. The money will be spent on its development and launch, as well as further development of the platform in new markets.
In its history, the startup has attracted a total of more than $ 10 million in investments. Investors: Zing Capital, 808 Ventures, Beechwood Ventures, Google Angels, McKinsey and CBRE.
What is WeFunder
WeFunder — is a crowdfunding platform for micro-investing in startups. Here anyone can invest in a startup they like with an amount of $ 100 or more, and then, as a full-fledged shareholder, receive regular reports and dividends if the company makes a profit.
WeFunder warned that they did not give any guarantees for a refund. If a startup goes bankrupt, then micro-investors will simply lose their money.
2,221 micro-investors invested in the Rentberry project through WeFunder. The amount amounted to $ 2,319,549. Fundraising ended June 30, 2020.
