Ukraine and Lithuania discussed issues of cooperation in the field of education and science
On September 22, 2020, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykola Kizim met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas.
During the meeting, the parties discussed and agreed on pressing issues of bilateral cooperation in the educational and scientific and technological spheres, and also identified priority areas for further cooperation.
Mykola Kizim expressed deep gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas for the constant support of Ukraine.
In particular, such bilateral projects are being implemented jointly with the Lithuanian side:
- “Equipping school No. 2 in Avdiivka, Donetsk region. Educational and sports equipment”;
- “Supporting Education in Conflict-Affected Areas in Eastern Ukraine: Appropriate Quality Assurance for Non-Formal Education”.
Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation in the field of higher education is active. Lithuanian and Ukrainian higher education institutions are jointly involved in three European Union projects under the Erasmus+ program.
Scientific and technological cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania is no less effective. The implementation of 12 joint Ukrainian-Lithuanian research projects for 2020-2021 has now begun.
In order to develop Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation, First Deputy Minister Mykola Kizim announced Ukraine’s interest in acquainting and studying the experience of Lithuania at all levels of education and science, in particular:
- expanding the availability and diversity of preschool education;
- digitalization;
- bullying prevention;
- optimization of the network of higher educational institutions;
- transfer of science and technology, etc.
