Ukrainian won a silver medal in the international competition of inventions
Alisa Sergeeva from Mariupol became a laureate of the V International Competition for Innovative Inventions (iCAN) in Canada.
As reported on the website of the Mariupol City Council, the girl presented a project to develop a new ecological packaging material based on chestnut.
The iCAN competition took place online this year and brought together participants from 60 countries. Sergeeva represented Mariupol and Ukraine as part of the team of the Small Academy of Sciences.
“Alisa Sergeeva, a graduate of the Mariupol Technical Lyceum, received a silver medal at the iCAN International Competition for Innovative Inventions in Canada. A woman from Mariupol presented a project to develop a new ecological packaging material based on chestnut”, – the statement says.
According to Svetlana Shevchenko, a biology teacher at the Mariupol Technical Lyceum, Sergeeva began working on the project since 2018.
“The goal of our research is to create an environmentally friendly material from renewable plant resources as an alternative to traditional materials, which pollutes the environment,” – the teacher explained.
The iCAN Competition provides inventors from all over the world with the opportunity to showcase their best ideas internationally. The event includes an exhibition of inventions, a seminar and an awards ceremony.
The competition is organized by the Toronto International Society for Innovation and Advanced Studies (TISIAS).
