INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS FROM WASTE CUTTING

PURPOSE:

Ukrainian University has developed a technology for the use of logging waste and the manufacture of new wood-composite material from them.

DESCRIPTION:

A significant part of logging waste is occupied by branches that are not used in the manufacture of board materials and fuel due to the high content of bark. The Ukrainian University has developed and proposes to implement the technology of rational use of branches as a wood component for wood-based materials by rolling, which allows you to preserve the natural strength of the fibers. The raw material for the manufacture of the material is poplar tree branches with a diameter of 13 to 32 mm, which, as a result of crushing, form a weaving with elements 6-10 mm thick and, after resinification of phenol-formaldehyde resins, become the basis of a three-layer pressed material with an average density of 640-800 kg / m3. The ultimate strength in static bending is 30-37.5 MPa, the modulus of elasticity is 7000-10000 MPa.

ADVANTAGES:

A well-known structural material – OSB (Oriented Strand Board) boards, which is characterized by a multi-operation and energy-intensive manufacturing process, has a density and mechanical characteristics (tensile strength in static bending and elastic modulus) less by 25 and 77%, respectively, similar indicators of the proposed new wood-composite material from the crushed branches.

TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC EFFECT:

The new wood-composite material can replace OSB boards in construction, and the use of logging waste – branches that are burned today will improve the ecological state of logging areas.

RECOMMENDED FIELD OF APPLICATION:

Woodworking industry, construction.
