British cryptocurrency startup Wirex gets the go-ahead from Mastercard
To issue your own payment cards.
Mastercard announced the expansion of its cryptocurrency program, thereby making it easier and faster for partners to bring secure, compatible payment cards to market, “3dnews” writes.
In this regard, the company encouraged all partners involved in the field of cryptocurrency and crypto cards to join the Mastercard Accelerate program, which provides new brands and fintech startups with access to everything they need to grow rapidly.
Another important announcement was also made. British startup Wirex became the first native cryptocurrency platform to receive full membership in the Mastercard payment system, which allows it to issue payment cards directly.
Over the past 18 months, Wirex, regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and licensed to issue cards in Europe, has been actively expanding through a successful expansion in the Asia Pacific region and the issuance of its own Wirex token (WXT).
A little later this year, the company plans to launch a new generation of Wirex cards for customers in Europe, with support for additional fiat currencies and free ATM withdrawals around the world. Wirex also plans to start issuing corporate cards for Wirex Business customers.
Expanding its Crypto Card Partner Program, Mastercard simplified approval processes to reduce time to market for partner products while maintaining a commitment to collaborative principles that include strong consumer protection and equal rights for all market participants.
