Phone with pocket. Xiaomi patented a smartphone with a section for wireless headphones
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has patented a unique gadget, on the top of which there are compartments for storing wireless headphones.
At the same time, the headphones will remain constantly charged, the company’s engineers assure.
The company has registered additional information with the Hague International Design System and is part of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). The first patent shows the design of the phone, the second gives an idea of additional accessories. The documentation was published in The Hague Bulletin on July 24, 2020. This is a patent for an invention with a short description, however, the description is clearer this time.
A special feature of the headphones is that the upper part is rotatable. One position is designed to be worn in the ears, and the other is for storage in the smartphone body. The design of the earbuds resembles the existing Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds.
Unfortunately, the patent does not provide any further information about the functions, most likely, the headphones can be connected via Bluetooth. A noise cancellation system will also be built to provide better sound quality in noisy environments.
It is not yet clear if Xiaomi intends to release a smartphone with a built-in headset. Finally, this design also has several disadvantages. You can imagine that such a compartment requires a lot of space in the case. So, other necessary components must be relocated and/or replaced with smaller parts. This, of course, entails additional development costs. Another issue is hygiene.
The phone itself has a wide metal, probably aluminum frame, which makes the design very similar to the Apple iPhone. The edges of the screen are kept to a minimum, this is a full-screen smartphone without cutouts.
